Here we are! We took an Uber to the airport early this morning at 2:30 am and that was my first experience taking an Uber versus a taxi. I'd have to say, it's not too bad. The driver was a sweetheart. He took us as his last customer for the night. It was about 30 degrees here in Minnesota and I can't wait to be in a warmer climate. We made it on time to the airport and first in line for the TSA check in. I was dreading the wait.
It's my husband's first time on the airplane so he's super excited and nervous at the same time. I'll have to say he's been a big sport for taking the leap willing to fly all the way to Puerto Rico with me. He did awesome!
Thank you for joining me on my trip to Puerto Rico!
First Night in Puerto Rico
Here we are, tens of thousands of miles away from home. I'm on this beautiful island -- Puerto Rico! I can't express how excited I am to be here alone with my husband. If you know me, I have my whole trip planned out into an itinerary. We knew exactly what we are planning to do while here. Why of course, eat!
It's about 87 degrees here when we landed. We were exhausted and hungry. All we wanted to get to the resort, settle down and eat.
Once we got the rental car, it was time to explore. I found it very confusing with the roads and how to get into the resort because it's also call Coco Beach, which Gran Melia's Golf Resort is located. The gentlemen at the front gate was very helpful by helping me navigate myself to the front entrance to request for valet parking.
Once inside, the entire property was flawless. Grass trimmed to the rim and the landscape was impeccable. A bit confusing, especially with no signs indicating restaurants or location of the pool. It wasn't until you actually enter the resort into a long pathway. Maybe because the property is so big! The front entrance was inviting, with a live parrot who whistles and flirts with the guests. A beautiful koy pond where you check-in keeps the kids entertained. It took about an hour to get our room ready. I guess I wasn't informed that check in was at 4 and not 3. It started to get really busy once we got there and there weren't many people working at the receptionist. The bell boy helped with load our luggage, and we were carried away in a golf cart to our little villa. I will have to be honest to say that although the property was magnificently put together, our room was not up to par. It needed a little updating. The throw pillows on the bed had to be tossed on the love seat. There's no fridge or microwave. I'm not too picky but seeing the resort, I had high expectations. Other than that, the place was great. We have a balcony overseeing the garden. What a refreshing way to wake up in the morning by hearing the tropical birds sing.
Our resort driver told is that we'll fall in love with Puerto Rico and probably won't go back to the states. He might be right.
The day flew by so quickly, we decided to lay low and had dinner at a Italian restaurant on the resort. We were so hungry i forgot to snap poctures of our dinnwe plates. Dinner, wine, and a night stroll through the resort was imprinted perfectly to end the night.
